This quote blew my mind because
freedom probably isn’t the first thing most people think of when they think of love.
You must love in such a way that the person you love feels free.
Thích Nhất Hạnh, Vietnamese monk
even more to it. This Thích Nhất Hạnh monk dude describes love in terms of understanding, compassion, joy, and freedom. 🤩
Fear makes people do stupid and crazy things.
Years ago, I vowed not to make any decisions driven by fear.
It’s not easy to do. But I’ve applied that idea
most of the time (hey, I’m not perfect 🤷🏻♂️). And when I didn’t, I regretted it.
When you do kind and loving things, good things happen — not immediately and not 100% of the time, but overall they send you (and those around you) to good places.
Okay, Eleanor Farjeon said it better. 👇😛

“Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.”

Personally, I like Valentine’s Day. It’s sweet. Even if you don’t have a serious partner, you can tell your kids, parents, or even your pet that you love them. 🐶
Regardless of how you feel about today, and especially if you are bundled up at home avoiding the cold weather, here are some movies celebrating the joy and/or pain of love. 💗
And this isn’t just a list of current movies. This list is full of classics going all the way back to
Pillow Talk from 1959.
I recently rediscovered a dazzling post from one of my previous favorite writers
on Medium, who has taken lately to more of a “We’re screwed” vibe. 🤷🏻♂️
What Really Makes Someone Beautiful
Despite the title, this is not just one of those “beauty is only skin deep” platitudes.
Aren’t we drawn to people with hidden depth and curiosity? People who show who they really are. People who are strong, funny, creative, and kind. People who see beauty in the weirdness and in the darkness. People who are not innocent, even if they appear innocent.
Beauty can be found in the balance of all these things.
